IMPOSTERS
DESCRIPTION
This project was done for an assignment were in small groups had to make a board game using a real life mobile game as the inspiration and core which it would be based off. For ours we chose the social deductin multiplayer game Among Us. Translating this into a board game was very intresting and at times challenging due to certian restrictions being placed on our games by the instructor. The game could not have stats (Health, damage) and varios limitations on the amount of randomness the game could have. In the game two sides compete against eachother, Imposters and Crewmates, the Crew mates must reach the emergency meeting button in center of the board and the imposters must stop them. Each game is unique thanks to an event card being drawn at the start that modifies the game, rules, and pace largely. Also the player draws cards corrosponding to their side throughout the game which they use to defeat their enemy. The main challenge creating this game was balancing the shape and size of the board, balancing card mechanics having them be intresting, unique, and fun while not being too overpowered or game breaking. We wanted the game to feel like organized chaos.
What I Learned:
The main challenge while making this game was creating cards and designing the board. The board size was a constant issue when combined with the cards as usually one side had a major advantage. Initially the imposter side was always winning and we had to balance this not only through extensive card editing but also reworking the board structure. I learned a lot about the process of adaptation and iteration through constant playtests and revision.
