DESCRIPTION

For this scene, I created a few different types of trees and made them a collection. I then used the particle system menu and scattered them around the landscape. I controlled where the trees would and wouldn't be through the weight paint mode. As you can see, in the image on the left below, the red is where trees grow dense, and the blue is where they don't grow. Without managing the density, the trees would be scattered around the whole landscape. To make an area look dense, I increased the number of trees significantly so the whole landscape was dense with trees -- not just the area visible by the camera, which would be very performance heavy.
